Juvéderm Ultra 3 is a sterile, pyrogen-free physiological solution of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin, presented in a graduated, pre-filled, disposable syringe. Each 1 mL contains hyaluronic acid gel 24 mg and lidocaine hydrochloride 3 mg in phosphate buffer at pH 7.2, the lidocaine being included to reduce the patient's pain during treatment.
It is an injectable implant used for filling mid and/or deep depressions of the skin via mid and/or deep dermis injection, as well as for lip definition and enhancement. Juvéderm Ultra 3 is an injectable medical device supplied strictly for administration by licensed, appropriately trained healthcare practitioners within a controlled clinical environment. It is not for retail sale to consumers and never for self-administration. The injection plane, volume per site and technique are selected by the treating practitioner. It must not be injected in the periorbital area, meaning the eyelids and crow's feet, or in the glabellar region; application in the under-eye area is to be performed only by specialists specifically trained in that technique with a sound knowledge of the physiology of the area. It must not be injected into blood vessels, since intravascular injection may lead to embolisation, occlusion of the vessels, ischaemia or infarction, and it must not be overcorrected. Juvéderm Ultra 3 must not be substituted for another reference in the range, since the products differ in syringe volume, needle gauge and intended depth.

Patient profile
For adult patients assessed as suitable by the treating practitioner. Patient selection, treatment area, injected volume and injection plane are determined by the practitioner following clinical assessment. The product must not be used in patients suffering from untreated epilepsy, patients who tend to develop hypertrophic scarring, patients with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or to gram-positive bacterial proteins, patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to amide-type local anaesthetics, patients suffering from porphyria, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or children. It must not be used in areas presenting cutaneous inflammatory or infectious processes such as acne or herpes.

Juvéderm Ultra 3 works through cross-linked hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin at 24 mg per mL, which binds water and adds volume within the dermis to lift and smooth mid and deep depressions of the skin. The lidocaine hydrochloride at 3 mg per mL acts locally to reduce the patient's pain during treatment and does not alter that mechanism.
