Restylane Skinboosters Vital Lidocaine

Restylane Skinboosters Vital Lidocaine is a sterile, transparent gel of stabilised hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin from Galderma, with the addition of 0,3% lidocaine hydrochloride for treatment comfort. It contains stabilised hyaluronic acid at 20 mg/mL and lidocaine hydrochloride at 3 mg/mL in phosphate-buffered saline.

It is intended to restore skin hydrobalance, improve skin structure and improve the elasticity of the skin, and is injected into the dermal layer, preferably the deeper part of the dermis. It is supplied in a glass syringe with a built-in dose guide, the SmartClick System, which clicks to indicate each injected dose; the 1 ml syringe gives approximately 100 doses. Disposable sterile 29G thin wall needles are provided.

Professional use

Restylane Skinboosters Vital Lidocaine is supplied for administration by authorised personnel only, in accordance with local legislation, and by practitioners with appropriate training, experience and knowledge of the anatomy at and around the site of injection. It is injected into the dermal layer of the skin, preferably in the deeper part of the dermis. Because this presentation contains an amide-type local anaesthetic, it must not be used where lidocaine is contraindicated; the plain Restylane Skinboosters Vital exists for that case and the two must not be substituted for one another. It must not be injected intravascularly, since localised superficial necrosis and scarring may occur after injection in or near vessels such as the nose and glabellar area, and unintentional introduction into the vasculature may lead to embolisation, occlusion, ischaemia, necrosis or infarction. Special caution is required in areas with limited collateral circulation, in patients with previous rhinoplasty, and in facial areas with limited soft tissue support such as the periorbital area. The product must not be mixed with other products prior to injection. The syringe is single use and must not be re-used.

Patient profile

For adult patients assessed as suitable by the treating practitioner, typically those whose objective is skin hydration and skin quality rather than volume correction. It must not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to streptococcal proteins, since the product may contain trace amounts of such material, in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis or a history or presence of multiple severe allergies, or in patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to amide-type local anaesthetics. Patients with pre-existing pigmented dark lower eyelid circles, thin skin and a pre-existing tendency toward oedema formation are not suitable candidates for treatment of the lower periorbital region. It should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, and in patients using substances that affect platelet function, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, who may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Post-inflammatory pigmentation changes may occur in people with dark skin, Fitzpatrick types IV to VI.
