Juvéderm Volbella with Lidocaine is a hyaluronic acid injectable by Allergan Aesthetics, developed for the correction of fine lines, moderate skin depressions and lip enhancement. It is suitable for authorised medical practitioners for improving lip volume and contour and correcting appropriate facial depressions and volume loss. The product contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid at 15 mg/mL and 3 mg/mL of lidocaine hydrochloride and is intended for professional use. Each box contains two 1 mL pre-filled syringes, four single-use 32G 1/2" needles and traceability labels.

Juvéderm Volbella is an injectable medical device to be administered only by an authorised medical practitioner in a controlled clinical setting, and is not supplied for retail sale or self-administration. It is intended for intradermal injection for fine lines and moderate skin depressions, injection into the mucous membrane for the lips, and submuscular or pre-periosteal injection for the tear trough and infraorbital area. It must not be injected into the eyelids, and must not be injected into blood vessels, since intravascular injection may lead to embolisation, occlusion of the vessels, ischaemia or infarction; it must not be overcorrected. In patients with a pre-existing tendency for infraorbital oedema there is no clinical data for treatment in that region, and such patients must be warned of the potential increased risk of prolonged oedema. Volbella is not interchangeable with other Juvéderm references, which differ in hyaluronic acid concentration and intended depth.

Treatment of the infraorbital area in particular requires assessment of skin thickness, fluid retention and vascular risk in that region, and is undertaken only by practitioners trained in that technique.

Juvéderm Volbella works through cross-linked hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin at 15 mg per mL. The gel integrates in thin tissue and defines a border without adding bulk. The lidocaine hydrochloride at 3 mg per mL reduces the patient's pain during treatment. Placement is what defines this grade: it is injected into the superficial or mid-dermis, or into the lip mucosa, which is why it suits fine lines, medium-sized depressions and lip definition rather than deep volume work. For the infraorbital or tear trough area the recommended plane is different again, submuscular or pre-periosteal, immediately below the muscle and above the bone.

Volift is 17.5 mg per mL, placed in the deep dermis or lip mucosa, and aimed at deep skin depressions, facial contouring and volume restoration. The two are not interchangeable.
Which needle is supplied with Juvéderm Volbella?
Each box contains four single-use 32G 1/2 inch sterile needles. Depending on the practitioner's preferred injection technique, a 30G 1/2 inch sterile needle or a 30G sterile cannula may be used instead.
