Juvéderm Ultra Smile

Juvéderm Ultra Smile is a pyrogen-free and sterile solution of non-animal, cross-linked hyaluronic acid by Allergan Aesthetics, intended as an injectable implant to fill mid and deep skin depressions and to define and enhance the lips. Authorised medical practitioners place it in the mid and deep dermis. Its formula combines 24 mg/mL of hyaluronic acid with 3 mg/mL of lidocaine hydrochloride, which reduces pain during treatment, and it is supplied for professional use only. The gel is supplied in a pre-filled, graduated syringe.

Zastosowanie profesjonalne

Juvéderm Ultra Smile is an injectable medical device for administration only by licensed, appropriately trained healthcare practitioners in a controlled clinical setting, and is not for retail sale or self-administration. It is injected into the mid and/or deep dermis or the mucous membrane of the lips. Several restrictions are absolute: it must not be injected in the periorbital area including the eyelids and crow's feet, must not be injected in the glabellar region including the forehead, and must not be injected into blood vessels. Under-eye use must be performed only by specialists specifically trained in that area, and the product must not be overcorrected. It must not be used in areas with inflammatory or infectious skin processes such as acne or herpes, nor simultaneously with laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion; after surface peels, injection is not recommended where the inflammatory reaction is significant.

Profil pacjenta

Juvéderm Ultra Smile must not be used in patients with untreated epilepsy, patients with a tendency to develop hypertrophic scarring, patients with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or to gram-positive bacterial proteins, patients with hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide-type local anaesthetics, patients suffering from porphyria, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children. It must not be used in areas with inflammatory or infectious skin processes such as acne or herpes. Injection is contraindicated in the periorbital area including the eyelids and crow's feet, in the glabellar region including the forehead, and into blood vessels; under-eye use is restricted to specialists specifically trained in that area, and overcorrection must be avoided. It must not be used at the same time as laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion, and after a surface peel injection is not recommended while any inflammatory reaction remains significant.
