Juvéderm Ultra 2 is a pyrogen-free, sterile solution of non-animal, cross-linked hyaluronic acid by Allergan Aesthetics, developed to fill medium-sized depressions of the skin and for lip definition. Juvéderm Ultra 2 is an injectable medical device for administration only by licensed, appropriately trained healthcare practitioners in a controlled clinical setting, and is not for retail sale or self-administration. The documented route is mid-dermis injection. Two restrictions are absolute: it must not be injected into the eyelids, and it must not be injected into blood vessels. Under-eye application must only be performed by specifically trained specialists, and the product must not be overcorrected. It must not be used in areas with cutaneous inflammatory or infectious processes such as acne or herpes, and must not be used simultaneously with laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion; for surface peels, injection is not recommended where the inflammatory reaction is significant.
