For professional use. aesPlla is administered by licensed practitioners trained in biostimulatory injectable technique, and is not for retail sale or self-administration. It is supplied as a powder and must be reconstituted before use: the working solution is aesPlla plus water for injection and lidocaine. The diluted product is injected into the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Because the correction develops through collagen generation over weeks rather than appearing at the time of treatment, the practitioner should set patient expectations accordingly.

Diluted aesPlla is injected into the subcutaneous layer of the skin. The first improvement in wrinkles comes from the water for injection carrying the diluted powder, but within a few days that water is absorbed and only the PLLA particles remain. New cells then gather around those particles and fibroblast numbers increase; the increased fibroblasts stimulate collagen generation, which is what improves the skin folds. The collagen generated in this way lasts more than 2 years, while the aesPlla particles themselves are biodegraded. Because the result is built from the patient's own collagen rather than from an implanted gel, it appears gradually rather than immediately.
