It is suitable for qualified medical professionals for correcting, over the medium term, facial skin defects caused by ageing and volume loss, and for filling small scars such as acne scars and post-traumatic or post-surgical scars. The product combines recombinant human collagen (the R-polypeptide alpha-1 chain of type I human collagen), high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and carboxymethylcellulose and is intended for professional use only. It is supplied as a 2 ml prefilled syringe with two sterile 27G 1/2" needles.

Karisma Rh Collagen is a Class III injectable device, administered into the medium dermis (rarely deep) with point and linear-retrograde technique in pre-ageing protocols, or into the medium and deep dermis with linear-retrograde technique in anti-ageing protocols; the treated area is then massaged for even distribution. Contraindications: do not inject in the periorbital (eyelids, crow's feet) or glabellar (forehead) regions, intravascularly, or into muscle or tendon, or for breast augmentation; do not over-correct. Do not use in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the product, vascular collagenopathies or autoimmune connective-tissue disease, active infection or inflammation at the site, uncontrolled epilepsy, a tendency to hypertrophic scars, or porphyria; not in patients under 18; not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not use the product in immediate association with a laser treatment, a deep chemical peel or a dermabrasion; in case of superficial peeling, it is recommended not to inject if the inflammatory reaction provoked is important.

Karisma Rh Collagen works through a recombinant human collagen alpha-1 chain (type I, produced by transgenic silkworm, about 100 kDa) combined with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and carboxymethylcellulose. The recombinant collagen acts as a precursor that stimulates fibroblasts to synthesise new endogenous type I collagen, while the hyaluronic acid and carboxymethylcellulose stabilise, protect and hydrate the extracellular matrix. The result is a gradual, bio-restorative improvement in skin firmness and structure. The recommended protocol is two sessions 30 days apart, repeatable after 4 months.
