Restylane Eyelight Lidocaine

Restylane Eyelight Lidocaine is an under-eye hyaluronic acid filler, formulated specifically for infraorbital hollowing. The transparent, viscous gel contains hyaluronic acid at 20 mg/mL with 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride and is supplied for professional use only.

Restylane Eyelight Lidocaine is an injectable medical device for administration only by licensed, appropriately trained healthcare practitioners in a controlled clinical setting, and is not for retail sale or self-administration. Periorbital treatment is a technically demanding injectable procedure: the skin is thin, the anatomy is unforgiving, and complications are immediately visible, so it should be undertaken only by practitioners with specific training in the region. Injections into the infraorbital hollows are supraperiosteal, using a 29G x 1/2 inch needle or a blunt-tip cannula of 25G to 27G. Patients should be limited to up to 1 ml per side per treatment session; if more than 1 ml per side is needed to achieve optimal correction, a follow-up treatment session is recommended. Introduction into the vasculature may lead to embolisation, occlusion of the vessels, ischaemia or infarction, with rare reports of temporary or permanent vision impairment and blindness, so the product must be injected slowly with the least pressure necessary.

For patients assessed as suitable by the treating practitioner. Patient selection is particularly important in this region: skin thickness, fluid retention, existing pigmentation and the presence of fat herniation all affect whether filler is the appropriate answer to under-eye shadowing, and that assessment rests with the practitioner. Because the gel contains lidocaine hydrochloride 3 mg/mL, patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to other amide-type anaesthetics must not receive it. It is contraindicated in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, or a history or presence of multiple severe allergies, and in patients with a history of allergy to gram-positive bacterial proteins, since the gel contains trace amounts of such material. Use should be deferred at sites where an active inflammatory process or infection is present until that process has been controlled.
