Ellansé M
Ellansé M is a sterile, single use, latex-free, non-pyrogenic, bioresorbable and non-permanent injectable implant, indicated for subdermal implantation in the face for the lasting correction of wrinkles and facial ageing signs or conditions. It is the range option for more extensive volume augmentation, offering 24 months of longevity against 18 months for Ellansé S, thanks to the longer PCL chain length of its microspheres. Synthetic Poly-e-caprolactone (PCL) microspheres make up 30% of the implant, in a 70% carrier gel of phosphate buffered saline, glycerin and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC): the gel fills immediately and is resorbed 2 to 3 months after injection, after which the microspheres progressively stimulate the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I. It is supplied as 2 x 1 mL ready-to-use syringes with four 27G needles and is a Class III medical device CE marked since 2009 under Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC.
Principales ventajas de Ellansé M
- Immediate correction of facial volume loss from the carboxymethylcellulose carrier gel, which is resorbed 2 to 3 months after injection
- Progressive stimulation of the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I, by the polycaprolactone microspheres
- 30% PCL microspheres to 70% CMC-based carrier gel, with a microsphere diameter of 25 to 50 microns
- 24 months of longevity, against 18 months for Ellanse S, the two being distinguished only by the initial polymer chain length of the PCL
- 100% of patients treated with Ellanse M had improved, much improved or very much improved results at 24 months
- The option for more extensive volume augmentation within the Ellanse family, where Ellanse S is the option for minimal augmentation
- Treats upper, mid and lower face: forehead, temples, brow, nose, cheeks, nasolabial folds, oral commissures, marionette lines, chin and jawline
- Sterile, single use, latex-free, non-pyrogenic, bioresorbable and non-permanent
- Supplied as 2 x 1 mL ready-to-use syringes with four 27G needles
- Class III medical device, CE marked since 2009
Indicaciones y uso profesional
Indicaciones principales
- Subdermal implantation in the face for the lasting correction of wrinkles and facial ageing signs or conditions
- Correction of age-related volume loss due to increased skin laxity, fat loss and diminished support from underlying muscle and bone
- More extensive volume augmentation, which is the position of Ellanse M within the range
Uso profesional
This product is supplied for administration by qualified medical practitioners only, within the scope of their professional registration and local regulations for injectable medical devices. It is a stand-alone device and is not required to be used in combination with any other device to meet its intended purpose. Injection technique, plane and volume are determined by the treating practitioner on a per-patient basis, with the approach depending on the facial region, the depth of implantation and the desired degree of volume correction. Selection between Ellanse S and Ellanse M is a decision about the degree of correction and the longevity required, and the two must not be treated as interchangeable. Each unit is sterile and for single use only.
Zonas de tratamiento
- Upper face: forehead, temples, brow area
- Mid face: nose reshaping, cheek augmentation, nasolabial folds
- Lower face: oral commissures, marionette lines, chin definition, jawline
- Injected subdermally, into the subcutaneous fat or hypodermis, with modalities recommended per facial region and per area
Perfil del paciente
Intended for adult patients over 18 who are not pregnant or breast-feeding and who are deemed appropriate for treatment by the physician. Because polycaprolactone is a bioresorbable implant rather than a hyaluronic acid gel, patient selection and expectation setting carry additional weight and are determined by the practitioner at consultation.
Cómo funciona Ellansé M
Ellansé M works deep under the skin through two components. The carboxymethylcellulose carrier gel gives immediate volume restoration on injection and is resorbed 2 to 3 months later. The polycaprolactone microspheres, 25 to 50 microns in diameter, then act as a regenerative trigger: they are progressively replaced by the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I, which rebuilds the inner foundation of the skin and restores facial support and contour over time. Implantation is subdermal, with the approach depending on the facial region, the depth of implantation and the desired degree of volume correction. Ellanse M is intended for more extensive volume augmentation and Ellanse S for minimal augmentation, so the two differ in the degree of correction as well as in longevity. M lasts 24 months against 18 months for S, and that difference comes from the chain length, or molecular weight, of the PCL chains within the microspheres: the longer chains in the M variant take longer to degrade.

Preguntas frecuentes
How long does Ellansé M last?
Ellansé M offers 24 months of longevity, making it the longer-lasting of the two Ellanse options currently supplied. Clinical studies report up to 24 months of effect for the M variant. Duration varies with the individual patient, the area addressed, the volume placed and the injection technique used.
How does Ellansé M differ from Ellansé S?
Both are the same polycaprolactone collagen stimulator platform, supplied at different longevities: 24 months for M and 18 months for S. The difference comes from the chain length, or molecular weight, of the PCL chains within the microspheres, with the longer chains in M taking longer to degrade. M is positioned for more extensive volume augmentation and S for minimal augmentation. Both are supplied as 2 x 1 mL, and the two are not interchangeable.
What is Ellansé M made of?
Ellansé M is 30% synthetic Poly-e-caprolactone microspheres, 25 to 50 microns in diameter, suspended in a 70% carrier gel of phosphate buffered saline, glycerin and carboxymethylcellulose. It is sterile, single use, latex-free, non-pyrogenic, bioresorbable and non-permanent. The carrier gel is resorbed 2 to 3 months after injection and is progressively replaced by the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I.
