How does AQUALYX work?
The weakened sodium deoxycholate in Aqualyx emulsifies the membrane of fat cells, causing cell lysis. Delivery is transdermal, with the Sonolyx device applying medium-frequency ultrasound at 1.3 MHz. The released cellular debris and triglycerides are cleared by the monocyte-macrophage system and drained through the lymphatic system.
How many AQUALYX sessions are needed?
An Aqualyx course is typically 3 to 5 sessions, approximately 3 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the size of the fat deposit, the degree of correction sought and the individual tissue response.
Who should not be treated with AQUALYX?
Aqualyx is not used in patients with acute skin conditions in the treatment area, acute systemic disease or evident organ dysfunction, severe autoimmune diseases or immunosuppression, in pregnant or breastfeeding women, in obese or significantly overweight patients, or in patients under 18 or over 60.
