Ellansé S

Ellansé S is a sterile, single use, latex-free, non-pyrogenic, bioresorbable and non-permanent injectable implant, intended for subdermal implantation in the face to correct wrinkles and facial ageing signs or conditions in a lasting way. It is recommended for minimal volume augmentation and offers 18 months of longevity against 24 months for Ellansé M, a difference due to the shorter PCL chain length of its microspheres. The implant combines 30% synthetic Poly-e-caprolactone (PCL) microspheres with a 70% carrier gel of phosphate buffered saline, glycerin and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC); the gel immediately fills areas of volume loss and is resorbed 2 to 3 months after injection, after which the microspheres are progressively replaced by the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I, reshaping facial contours over time. Ellansé S comes as 2 x 1 mL ready-to-use syringes with four 27G needles and is a Class III medical device, CE marked since 2009 under Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC.

• Immediate volumising effect from the carboxymethylcellulose carrier gel, which fills areas affected by volume loss and is resorbed 2 to 3 months after injection
• Progressive stimulation of the patient's own collagen, predominantly type I, by the polycaprolactone microspheres
• 30% PCL microspheres to 70% CMC-based carrier gel, with a microsphere diameter of 25 to 50 microns
• 18 months of longevity, against 24 months for Ellanse M, the two being distinguished only by the initial polymer chain length of the PCL
• 90% of patients treated with Ellanse S or M had improved, much improved or very much improved results at 12 months
• The intended option for more conservative, minimal volume augmentation within the Ellanse family, which makes it a reasonable starting point for a patient new to collagen stimulators
• Treats upper, mid and lower face: forehead, temples, brow, nose, cheeks, nasolabial folds, oral commissures, marionette lines, chin and jawline

This product is supplied for administration by qualified medical practitioners only, within the scope of their professional registration and local regulations for injectable medical devices. It is a stand-alone device and is not required to be used in combination with any other device to meet its intended purpose. Injection technique, plane and volume are determined by the treating practitioner on a per-patient basis, with the approach depending on the facial region, the depth of implantation and the desired degree of volume correction. Selection between Ellanse S and Ellanse M is a decision about the degree of correction and the longevity required, and the two must not be treated as interchangeable. Each unit is sterile and for single use only.

Perfil do paciente

Intended for adult patients over 18 who are not pregnant or breast-feeding and who are deemed appropriate for treatment by the physician. Because polycaprolactone is a bioresorbable implant rather than a hyaluronic acid gel, patient selection and expectation setting carry additional weight and are determined by the practitioner at consultation.
